“Get Real!” Mentoring Program
2007-08 Service Project

 PURPOSE
  • To serve as a positive role model and friend to 31 sixth grade girls at Matthew W. Gilbert Middle School.  These girls are A-B Honor Roll students who need help developing and reaching positive academic, career and personal goals.   Coming from varied backgrounds, many of them have seen tragedy in their lives, and have been exposed to situations not common to this age group.  The socio-economic level of these girls is at-risk, as well as the neighborhood in which they live.

VISION:
  • To build self-esteem. and motivation
  • To help them become creative and imaginative individuals
  • To utilize the expertise within our organization to help these girls “dream big”.

MISSION:    To meet them where they are, and improve their outlook on life.
